VVA is seeking a proven, self-motivated, full-time Commercial Project Manager. This individual will oversee the quality, cost and schedule of assigned projects while integrated into a team committed to customer success. 

Qualified candidates must have a bachelor’s degree, have held a project management position and a minimum of two years of experience in the construction industry managing projects to completion. Travel is a necessity to this role, throughout the South and Midwest. 

Responsibilities:

  • Take field measurements
  • Assist design team in conceptual project drawings
  • Simultaneously manage projects from estimation to closeout
  • Oversee the quality, cost, and schedule of each project
  • Evaluating subcontractor and vendor bids to confirm SOW’s, verify materials quoted meet bid documents and project requirements
  • Prepare contracts
  • Obtain material lead times and ensure materials are onsite by the dates required in the construction schedule
  • Create purchase orders
  • Develop construction schedule in Microsoft Project with input from management team, design team, and field team
  • Facilitate communication between owners, designers, and field team
  • Oversee punch list review, distribution, and completion
  • Authorize subcontractor invoices and assist in preparing owner invoices based on work completed
  • Formulate change orders

The Construction Manager position manages multiple concurrent farm, service, and small commercial grain projects. The primary role of the construction manager is to make each project is completed in a safe manner, while producing a quality product, within in the budget and timeline to meet their needs. Position Duties include customer relations, field engineering, project management, material management, quality control, and project close out.

Job Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Grain Storage and Grain Handling Equipment.
  • Travel – Must be able to travel for extended periods of time varying with the seasons and workload.
  • Projects for this position will primarily be in, but not limited to, West Mississippi, Southeast Arkansas, Louisiana, and Central Tennessee.
    • Ideally this candidate is centrally located near these primary project locations.
  • Work extended hours, up to 7 days per week varying with the season and workload; outdoors in various conditions, at various heights, in various confined spaces.
  • Must be willing to work in a teamwork environment with the ability to interact and communicate effectively with all levels of employees, customers and management.
  • Must be self-motivated and highly driven, capable of working independently.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds; climb ladders, stairs and slopes on a construction site to heights exceeding 150-200 feet above ground; and work in confined spaces such as tunnels, pits, and grain storage, with extreme dust conditions.
  • When necessary, deliver materials and/or equipment to the project site by use of company owned vehicles, and/or company owned trailers.
  • Strong commitment to safety with the ability to ensure the safety of project workers, property, and community.
  • Ability to manage multiple sub-contractors and trades to maintain schedule and budget.
  • Experienced in crane operations/rigging and heavy lift planning and management.
  • Proficient in surveying/layout techniques with the ability to setup, adjust, and operate traditional survey equipment to establish control points and lines to be used by multiple trades.
  • Proficient in computer operation and digital communication; using the internet, email, Excel, Word, etc.
  • Ability to review and inspect all work performed to meet design criteria, such as: rebar and formwork, supervise concrete placement, mechanical conveying systems, fabrications, and welds for structural integrity, review all structures and access systems to ensure OSHA compliance.

Team VVA is searching for a qualified, experienced Estimator for our Jonesboro, AR location. This individual will assist the lead estimator in preparing quotes for account managers. This role includes requesting quotes from vendors using a configurator. 

This person must be able to work well on a team and be a self-starter. They must be proficient in the Microsoft Suite.

Responsibilities:

  • Review drawings, specifications, proposals, and other documents for project bids
  • Complete bid spreadsheets and contracts
  • Send RFQs to vendors and subcontractors
  • Prepare quotes on vendor configurator and quoting tool
  • Prepare job packets
  • Provide material lists
  • Prepare customer close-out binders
  • Prepare purchase orders and sales orders

  • Minimum three years of experience supervising a millwright crew of at least 4 members
  • Minimum 5 years of experience welding, fabrication, industrial equipment installation required
  • Read and interpret complex blueprint or CAD drawings to establish crew activities for project completion
  • Review, understand, and communicate work assignments and plans to the crew/team
  • Plan for and provide the 6 elements of work to the field team everyday: Material, Manpower, Information, Equipment, Environment, and Tools
  • Willing to travel from project to project and across multiple states as-needed
  • Valid drivers license to drive company vehicles
  • Meet and exceed project safety, quality, and profit goals for project activities
  • Excellent understanding of OSHA and company safety requirements
  • Excellent understanding of the work site equipment, including operating ability, setup and maintenance requirements
  • Monitor and communicate daily production activity ensuring the field team performs at the desired production levels
  • Communicate project progress and project hurdles on a daily basis
  • Flex with changes in schedule and projects
  • Display innovation when working on projects and always be prepared to think of new ways to become more efficient
  • Welding capabilities and certifications preferred
  • Experience installing material handling and structural steel type products
  • Leads by example, always professional and always in line with the VVA values
  • Leads the project team to identify, minimize, and eliminate risks associated with project activities
  • Drive performance of each individual and identifies strengths and weaknesses of each team member that constantly improves their abilities

  • Prefer three years of experience in farm or commercial environment with skills in welding, fabrication, industrial equipment installation
  • Regular, timely attendance is a must
  • Willing to travel
  • General mechanical ability with experience using various powered and cordless tools
  • Previous experience working in grain elevators is a plus
  • Actively participate and implement safety programs
  • Learn and follow written rules and procedures
  • The ability to climb stairs, perform lifting over 75 pounds, sit, kneel and stand for long periods, work in confined spaces, and work at heights over 50’
  • Candidate must be able to work in a variety of environmental conditions, such as hot, cold and dusty environments
  • Must be willing to work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
  • Perform all duties within compliance of OSHA, company safety, and environmental regulations; including wearing appropriate PPE for task being performed
  • Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance (per manufacturer’s recommendations and company policies) to maximize equipment life and reduce downtime
  • Troubleshoot reported or discovered equipment issues; repair or replace defective parts or requests assistance as needed
  • Complete documentation timely, accurately, and legibly
  • Perform highly skilled maintenance tasks, such as fabrication, cutting, blueprint reading, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned; including general housekeeping and clean-up of all work areas; including sweeping, shoveling, washing, painting
